- According to a survey by Nielsen, 51 percent of the people watching the Super Bowl watched it because of the commercial and they enjoy the commercial more than the game. The Nielsen interviewed 25,000 households all in all, and the saying goes if there is no commercial there is no Super Bowl.
“The Super Bowl remains a singular event for engaging the broadest number of consumers at one time,” said Mark Nesbitt, president of TNS Media Intelligence. “Because it is viewed live and experienced by a majority of the country at the same time, a commercial presence on the broadcast has great significance and impact for a brand.”

Cool! Have to say it's been a while since I've watched the Superbowl, yet it is true the adverts are a great draw!! :D I actually used to love them and the half-time performance, more than the game.. (Must be a special American thing ;p) Hope they are still shot with a bang!! ..Thanks
I must be a part of that 49% tha? watches the Super Bowl for the game itself! I could always catch it later through youtube! I usually always root for the under dog whenever I watch the Super Bowl when my Giants aren't in it! Thanks Maita!
I have to admit...I usually miss most of the Superbowl because I am working but if there is some really funny commercial or something my husband with record it on the DVR...Especially when Justin Timberlake pulled Janet Jackson's shirt open a couple of years ago.
This was very cleavage - I mean very cleaver!
I mean clever!
The commercials are usually my favorite parts.
Interesting Hub, I think it is a good split and the media has created some megga ads that people are expected to watch.
Great hub as always girl...
Blessings and Hugs
My fave SB commercial was the "cat herders." It was hilarious!
I am sorry but I can't comment because they never show SB in England. Your hub is interesting and well written.
Maita - this is interesting because I like some of the commercials but never thought of them as the main topic, especially for a hub...nice work
What I have noticed is there are never any commercials promoting Jesus Christ, our Lord. But, even if they did, it would probably result in public outrage.
Thank you for the hub Maita. Usually during the game commercials I do other things.
Forever His,
Maita - funny about Super Bowl Commercials; I produced 3; intros of Chevy Z-28 and Ford Contour + Flying Tigers. Clients love you for about a week. Your family says, "That was nice", but non involved ad agency mates hate you with envy, forever. It's 16 years since Contour and I still recall our around the world shoot + the day to day stress of working with new, untested breakthru post production steps while everyone screamed AREN'T YOU FINISHED YET? (We helped presell 90,000 Ford Motor cars) David Russell
What a great idea for a hub! This one should soar. I love watching the commercials. They are hysterical. Great idea and well done.

Wow Maita you really know how to dig into a subject. Nicely put together my dear. I'm impressed.
no night shift, I just work until 7pm and get home when it's nearly over.
I watch for the game, but the commercials are fun to watch also. At least some of them. I have seen some that are great and some not so great.
Excellent hub Maita, I enjoy the Super bowl for the game. However some of the commercials are more entertaining than the commercials that air during regular TV. I am looking forward to this years match up. I hope you had a great day of watching football. Thanks.
Hey Maita, interesting. I do watch the game I think the commercials are just an added bonus. I think the e-trade baby ones are the best! I got back from Sedona on Thursday night, trying to get settled in again. Working on getting my info together for my hub about the trip, look for it ok? Thanks as always. K.
